Document Fracking Briefing September 2015
The topic of fracking has been in the news recently so we thought it’d be worth providing a quick overview should you get any questions from residents. The announcement from the Government was that licences had been granted for fracking in the Chorley borough (the new licences cover the borough east of the M61) and the rest of the borough is already covered by licences granted some time ago. Although it caused quite a bit of concern, little has really changed. Until a planning application is submitted there are no plans for fracking in the borough. It could then only go ahead if a planning application is granted permission. That decision would be taken by Lancashire County Council and Chorley Council, and any parish councils in the area of an application, would be consultees.
