Chorley Council in partnership with Chorley Buddies and Active Lancashire have successful received funding from Sport England to develop a pilot project to?help reduce the negative impact of COVID-19 and the widening of the inequalities in sport and physical activity The project will create a dedicated one to one provision to support and encourage Chorley residents to include low level physical activity into their daily lives. The project will combine befriending with deliver of physical activity. The programme will target residents who are experiencing a range of mental health issues, long term health conditions and from our more deprived communities. The project will work with Chorley Buddies, local voluntary befriending group and train a dedicated team of voluntary Activity Buddies which can deliver bespoke one to one session which could range from a walk, run, exercise sessions. They would support individuals through face to face sessions but also via digital and telephone. Buddies will work with the individual to set goals and identify simple activity they can continue in the home and local community. They will be able accompany them to other provision and give them confidence to continue.
