Feedback on Select Move from Chorley Councillors

Members of the Task Group to be provided feedback relating to Select Move by Chorley Councillors.

Minutes:

The Task Group welcomed Councillors Julia Berry, Alan Whittaker and Aaron Beaver to share their views and experiences with Select Move.

Concerns were expressed for residents with mental health needs, and those members of hard to reach groups to gain access. Members stressed the importance of allowing people to remain as independent and as safe as possible. The service needed to be accessible to those not on a 9-5 schedule and support to be available early in the morning, weekends and during unsociable hours.

A reoccurring issue raised was that homes were not appearing on the site in addition to the clarity and understanding of the bidding system.

A specific case was raised featuring a resident classified as too young to gain access to supported property.

Members believed that the methods of allocation, banding and re-banding, weight of circumstances and methods of communication should be explored, to decrease the likelihood of any user disenfranchisement. It was questioned how well Select Move managed the demand for houses in the area.

Members wished to learn more about the numbers of service users moving into the area without a connection to the area.

The Task Group wanted to engage with both Preston and South Ribble to compare and contract issues and to build a closer working relationship between the councils and the service.

Members understood that it was important to hear the voices of the users of Select Move and would like to see feedback from the Housing Needs Survey and explore if there were currently unsupported groups.
